Lake Bled, Slovenia – the perfect mini break
If you’ve seen a picture of Lake Bled, the image has probably stuck in your mind. An impossibly turquoise lake surrounded by mountains and lush forests with a little island that is home to a pretty white church. It is the kind of place that you think you’ll get there and it could not be possibly as lovely as the photos. But it is, a charming fairytale setting. Lake Bled is located in the northern part of Slovenia, just a stone’s throw away from the Austrian border, and you’ll see some similarities, from the picturesque mountains to the cute Alpine-style buildings dotting the landscape. Exploring Brecon Beacons in South Wales
Brecon Beacons was our last outing before quarantine back in February. We planned to go to Milan but obviously we cancelled it due to Covid-19. I was disappointed even though it was definitely the right thing to do, and to make matters worse, we live very near the rail line and had an entire weekend of non-stop rail replacement works to look forward to. So I was thrilled when Matt suggested making the trip to South Wales. I lived in South Wales for about two years, in Swansea. While I’ve written previously about local beauty spots such as the Gower, I had not been to Brecon Beacons. What I found…

What to Know Before Visiting Vatican City
There’s plenty to know before visiting the Vatican City. The Vatican City is the world’s smallest country, surrounded by Rome. It’s only 44 hectares and is home to a mere 1,000 residents, that’s less than the number of people that can fit on a London tube train. In addition to being the seat of the Roman Catholic Church, the city-state attracts millions of tourists each year to view its artistic masterpieces. It is also the only country that is entirely a Unesco World Heritage site. I don’t consider myself very religious, but my grandfather is a devote Catholic. It was his dream to visit the Vatican City for years. With…

A Guide for Staying in St Paul’s Bay, Malta
We ended our week long trip to Malta by spending three nights in St Paul’s Bay. Located in the Northern region of the main island of Malta, this bay area is a place of relaxation in the sunshine and leisurely walks around the bay. It’s a bit quieter and less touristy than some of the surrounding towns such as Bugibba. But best of all, St. Paul’s Bay quite central to the rest of Malta and in my opinion a good spot to base yourself for exploring the islands. Things to do in Sliema, Malta
Sliema, Malta is located just over the harbour from the capital Valletta. With a more modern feel than many of the towns on the island, it’s known as Malta’s commercial district, as well as for its shops and swimming spots. While we were staying in St. Paul’s Bay, we decided to take a short bus ride to explore the town for the day. It didn’t charm me the way some of the other places I saw on Malta did, but it’s the place to go when you want swimming and a little bit of luxury. Here’s some ideas of things to do in Sliema.
