Visiting English Lavender Fields Near London

    July 31, 2019 / 6 Comments

Mayfield Lavender Farm, located in Banstead near South London, looks a world away from the busy city. Yet, still sits within the London travel zones. The lavender fields are the perfect spot for a summer day trip and one of my favourite days out recently. Despite its huge crowds and growing number of developments, London remains a city that is still full of green spaces, making up approximately 47% of Greater London. But did you know there’s a massive purple space bordering it’s southern edges? The working farm becomes a popular spot to visit in summer when several varieties of lavender are in full bloom as far as the eye…

    June 26, 2019 / 4 Comments

Oxford is one of the most visited cities in the UK, attracting over 7 million visitors each year. It needs little introduction, being home to the most famous university in the world. Exploring Oxford is easy to do in one day and you should have time to see many of the city’s highlights. As I mentioned recently in my post about great day trips from London, Oxford is easy to reach from London, making a great day out. Here’s what we got up to on our day trip to Oxford and our recommendations of what to see, do and eat. *Disclosure: this post contains some affiliate links, meaning, at no…

The Best Places in the UK for Harry Potter Fans

    April 11, 2019 / 8 Comments

For members of the Harry Potter fandom who visit from abroad, the UK is filled with various Harry Potter filming locations and things for fans to see. The first time I visited the UK, 13 and in the middle of reading Harry Potter for the first time, it felt magical, about as close as it could to stepping inside the pages of these books or feeling right on the set of one of the films. While there are many that aren’t on this list, here are my top picks to visit. London King’s Cross/St Pancras Station An always popular stop off for Harry Potter fans, Platform 9 3/4 has been…

Warner Brothers Studio: The Making of Harry Potter Tour

    September 17, 2018 / 3 Comments

It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a Harry Potter geek. So it will come as no surprise that one of the top things on my to do list when moving to London was to visit Warner Brothers studio for a tour of the making of Harry Potter. I couldn’t wait to see the place where so many of my favourite scenes were filmed and learn more about how they were made. Looking to experience a bit of the magic yourself? Here’s everything you need to know: What You’ll See The studio was where the eight Harry Potter films were created over a period of several years. The vast…

Why Nothing Beats a Summer in London

    June 28, 2018 / 0 Comments

Summer is officially here, which is easily my favourite time of year in London. While I previously mentioned how enchanting my home is when the Christmas season rolls around, I’m a summer girl and truly come alive when the weather gets warmer and the daylight hours are longer. But it’s not just being able to sit in my garden in the sunshine after working hours that puts me in a cheerful mood this time of year. Like me, the city’s spirit seems lifted, and there’s much more to keep you entertained. Yes, the tubes are horrendous in the heat, and yes the bugs (and tourists) descend on the city this…
