Exploring Oxford, UK in one day

    June 26, 2019 / 4 Comments

Oxford is one of the most visited cities in the UK, attracting over 7 million visitors each year. It needs little introduction, being home to the most famous university in the world. Exploring Oxford is easy to do in one day and you should have time to see many of the city’s highlights. As I mentioned recently in my post about great day trips from London, Oxford is easy to reach from London, making a great day out. Here’s what we got up to on our day trip to Oxford and our recommendations of what to see, do and eat. *Disclosure: this post contains some affiliate links, meaning, at no…

The Dos and Don’ts of Visiting Sri Lanka

    February 19, 2019 / 14 Comments

Sri Lanka remains one of my favourite countries I’ve visited yet. It’s stunningly beautiful with a mix of top-notch beaches, gorgeous scenery, chances to see a lot of wildlife, and great food. But there’s some dos and don’ts for visiting this captivating country. While I’ve written about reasons to visit Sri Lanka before, as well as offering up some guides for visiting the areas I was fortunate enough to see on my trip, such as Mirissa, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, and the Cultural Triangle, I realised that there is still a lot to know about visiting this country. If you are thinking about visiting Sri Lanka, there’s a few do’s…

Why Add Mirissa to Your Sri Lanka Itinerary

    January 16, 2018 / 2 Comments

Fresh off two long flights from London and from Qatar, the last thing I felt like doing when I arrived at Colombo Airport in Sri Lanka was more travelling. But I knew that in under three hours, I’d be by the beach in Mirissa. My friend and I only had time for one beach break on our trip before we went on a tour. After all, we’d be moving around loads with that and both needed a few days of relaxation in one spot first. We chose Mirissa as it seemed easier to get to than the east coast. And we loved the look of its beaches. Nestled on Sri…

7 Reasons to Visit Sri Lanka

    January 3, 2018 / 2 Comments

There are so many reasons to visit Sri Lanka. It remains one of my favourite countries I have ever visited. Sri Lanka was the first country outside of Europe (besides my birth country, the US) that I had visited. And it was the perfect starting point.  In addition to having all the factors that I really want out of a holiday, it was friendly and easy to get around.  I visited in October, meeting up with one of my friends who was about halfway through her tour around Asia. While we had a couple of cloudy days, the weather was great for the most part, being between monsoon seasons. This…
