24 Hours in Singapore – The Perfect Layover
Is 24 hours long enough to see everything you want to in Singapore? My recent experience is no. This tiny country packs a punch and I’d recommend spending a couple of days to really soak up its charm. That isn’t to say Singapore isn’t one of the absolute best places to stop over for a night. I was flying to Australia for the first time and it was about to be the longest flight I’d ever taken. And previous readers will know how I feel about long flights. So flying into Brisbane, I had to change planes somewhere. And what a shame it would be to not to step out…

A Day Trip to Marsaxlokk, Malta
Marsaxlokk is a charming little fishing village located on the southern part of Malta. The village has gained fame for vibrantly painted fishing boats, fresh seafood, and ancient history. It was also one of my favourite places I visited in Malta. The picturesque harbour is the perfect place to relax for the day. On our second to last day in Malta, we caught a bus from our accommodation in St. Paul’s Bay to Marsaxlokk for a day trip. It was my favourite day from the holiday for a number of reasons, but partly because of how relaxing it was spending the day by the harbour watching the boats. How to…

A Day Visiting Mdina, Malta’s Silent City
On our second morning in Valletta, we decided to take a half-day trip to Mdina, catching the 20 minute bus ride to near the city gates after breakfast. Mdina was once the capital of Malta but after the siege of Malta, the capital moved to the three cities. In the years after, it became a ghost town, earning it the nickname the ‘silent city’. But its grand ambience has remained; Malta’s noble families have long called Mdina home, earning it another nickname of the noble city. You might spot Mdina in the distance while you travel through the rest of Malta, lit up at night by a soft lamp light…

How to Pack for Two Weeks in a Carry on
Is it possible to pack for two weeks or more just using your carry-on allowance? Of course it is, but you’ll need some expert packing tips to pull it off. I’m packing for a three-week trip to Australia – in a 40L backpack. I did the same when I went to Vietnam and Sri Lanka. In fact, the last time I checked a suitcase was for the US about 5 years ago. That was because I wanted to bring back some of my belongings I’d left at my parents’ house. For some, packing using only your cabin bag allowance sounds routine. But here’s the full disclosure: I don’t think I’m…

Visiting English Lavender Fields Near London
Mayfield Lavender Farm, located in Banstead near South London, looks a world away from the busy city. Yet, still sits within the London travel zones. The lavender fields are the perfect spot for a summer day trip and one of my favourite days out recently. Despite its huge crowds and growing number of developments, London remains a city that is still full of green spaces, making up approximately 47% of Greater London. But did you know there’s a massive purple space bordering it’s southern edges? The working farm becomes a popular spot to visit in summer when several varieties of lavender are in full bloom as far as the eye…
