Ljubljana – A guide to Slovenia’s fairytale capital

    September 9, 2023 / 1 Comment

Imagine you are looking for a beautiful European city break with cobbled streets and lots of cafes. Tree-lined streets and a river flanked by beautifully architectured bridges are overlooked by a fairytale castle sitting high on a hill. Food and drink aren’t too expensive. The city also is uncrowded, spotlessly clean and easy to get around. It exists, and it is Slovenia’s capital. Welcome to Ljubljana. Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. Why you can’t skip visiting Gozo, Malta

    October 30, 2019 / 1 Comment

Gozo, Malta is the country’s second largest island, located a short ferry ride to the north. The little island is also a must-visit for those visiting Malta. After our half day trip in Mdina, we headed back to Valletta, grabbed a late lunch, and hopped on the bus to Cirkewwa. From Cirkewwa, we got on the ferry to Gozo at sunset, arriving at Mgarr just after dark. We spent the next couple of day exploring this lovely little place, finding it had much more to offer than we initially thought. *Disclosure: this post contains some affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if…

How to Pack for Two Weeks in a Carry on

    September 16, 2019 / 3 Comments

Is it possible to pack for two weeks or more just using your carry-on allowance? Of course it is, but you’ll need some expert packing tips to pull it off. I’m packing for a three-week trip to Australia – in a 40L backpack. I did the same when I went to Vietnam and Sri Lanka. In fact, the last time I checked a suitcase was for the US about 5 years ago. That was because I wanted to bring back some of my belongings I’d left at my parents’ house. For some, packing using only your cabin bag allowance sounds routine. But here’s the full disclosure: I don’t think I’m…

Travel Products I’m Buying Before My Next Trip

    July 18, 2019 / 3 Comments

My birthday is coming up soon and not too long before I set off on my bigger trips of the year. These include Malta, Singapore, and travelling around Australia. Although I travel quite often, there’s a few things I want to get for upcoming trips to make my life easier or that I just want to treat myself to, a few that have been on my list of wants for quite awhile. Here’s the travel products I’m planning to get before my next long trips: *Disclosure: this post contains some affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make…

Exploring Oxford, UK in one day

    June 26, 2019 / 4 Comments

Oxford is one of the most visited cities in the UK, attracting over 7 million visitors each year. It needs little introduction, being home to the most famous university in the world. Exploring Oxford is easy to do in one day and you should have time to see many of the city’s highlights. As I mentioned recently in my post about great day trips from London, Oxford is easy to reach from London, making a great day out. Here’s what we got up to on our day trip to Oxford and our recommendations of what to see, do and eat. *Disclosure: this post contains some affiliate links, meaning, at no…
